JogNog Brings Breakthrough Collaborative Learning to the Classroom
Wakefield, MA (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- JogNog announces two exciting new capabilities that allow students to learn more efficiently by collaborating with other students and teachers. Students are now encouraged to ask questions – not just answer them – in JogNog’s standards-aligned quizzes for science, math, language arts, and social studies. Students and teachers can also now create a competitive, collaborative experience by creating a contest where their class competes against another class.
With this update to the JogNog Achievement System, JogNog has leveraged research in game design to enable students to ask their teachers and classmates questions while taking quizzes. By posing their own questions about class material, students get quick answers that support their personalized learning, develop their higher-order thinking skills, and share knowledge with their fellow students. Teachers gain valuable insights into student learning in real time.
The JogNog update also allows teachers to challenge other classes to contests. These classes can be in the same school or anywhere in the world. These quiz contests motivate students and teach them teamwork and cooperation as they compete to reach the top of the leaderboard.
“Teachers know that if they can encourage a student to pose a good question, the student will have really thought about the content and employed higher-order thinking skills,” noted Stephen Smith, President and CEO of JogNog. “Most important to student learning, we figured out a way for students to ask questions in a way that feels safe and collaborative.”
