A Partnership for Pediatric Surgery
Deerfield, IL (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- The Hendren Project (THP) and the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) announce a collaborative agreement linking the global pediatric surgery community. THP and APSA have a shared vision to educate pediatric surgeons, medical professionals and patient families by effectively using innovative technologies and educational techniques. Both organizations advocate the importance of testing the understanding of critical and current medical research and how it applies to the treatment of children with complex medical conditions.
APSA Background:
Formed in 1970 with 191 charter members, APSA is a professional association of more than 1,350 pediatric surgeons, all of whom are experts in the surgical conditions of children and adolescents. APSA itself is at the forefront of representing pediatric surgeons in the United States and plays a vital role internationally in pediatric surgery and child healthcare.
THP Background:
THP has developed an innovative and dynamic web-based platform to connect the international community of pediatric medical professionals, students and families. The Hendren Project solves a critical problem. Medical information, especially as accessed via the web, exists in a variety of forms and in a variety of locations. It is never organized by how--or when--it is most needed. The Project aggregates information and makes sure it comes from trusted sources. Information is then organized under taxonomies for surgical topics devoted to specific medical conditions of children by content type and by where the information fits in a surgeon’s workflow. Information and content are generated from the peer professional medical communities. Finally, the information is networked in an innovative online community of medical professionals for discussion and sharing.
The Partnership:
The collaborative relationship will be built on the complementing strengths and needs of THP and APSA to provide online learning opportunities to a broad, international community of medical professionals who treat children, educate surgical teams and families of patients and provide long-term follow-up treatment.
THP will provide its innovative web-based technology, contributed content, subject matter experts and editorial structure and process to the collaboration.
The two organizations believe that this collaboration will enhance their current missions in helping to provide the best care to children across the globe.
