Bike New York Launches New Website at www.bike.nyc
(PRWEB) December 19, 2014 -- Bike New York, the local nonprofit that operates America’s largest bike education program, launched their new website at http://www.bike.nyc yesterday at 3PM EST. Designed by Pentagram and built by Barrel, the new site is poised to be New York City’s go-to cycling resource, featuring information about Bike New York’s free bike education programs, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour (the world’s biggest charitable bike ride), Bike Expo New York, Citi Bike, local rides and events, bike maintenance, the rules of the road, local bike shops, how to buy a bike, and much more.
“Since 1977, when we took a group of high school students and advocates on a ride through the five boroughs, we’ve been promoting safe cycling in New York City,” says Ken Podziba, CEO and president of Bike New York. “It’s only fitting that we bring our decades of passion and hard-learned lessons together in one place for the benefit of the NYC cycling community.”
"Now more than ever, New York City has embraced biking as a way of life. We wanted to reflect that energy in the new identity and website for Bike New York,” says Emily Oberman, partner at Pentagram. “Bold colors, big type, playful language, and strong images help biking come alive for anyone visiting the site, whether they're a beginner, a seasoned rider, or a tourist looking to explore the City. We hope the new look and feel will help more people hop on a bike and go. It’s a great thing to do.”
“Countless hours were spent brainstorming the best ways to share Bike New York's offerings and expertise,” says Peter Kang, co-founder and principal at Barrel. “We expect the site to become a central resource for cyclists everywhere, especially by improving registration for Bike New York's classes and rides. We've been honored to work alongside the Bike New York team in their mission to help us all, as they say, grab life by the handlebars."
