SalesHub Assists Clients Following Latest Google Algorithm Update
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- Following a series of Google updates on December 2, 5, and 6, SalesHub is working to assist clients who may have been affected by the algorithm changes. While Google had originally promised that no developments were planned for the holiday season, a number of effects from the previous October 2014 updates seem to have begun immediately after Thanksgiving. As a result, SalesHub is planning to spend the holiday months preparing their clients for the next round of updates, which could come at any time.
While Google’s recent algorithm changes, called Panda 4.1 and Penguin 3.0, had a number of intentions and effects, their main intention seems to be to better prevent spam. Accordingly, any website that is decided to be too “spammy” is penalized. However, at times this seems to extend to the user’s experience in general: Penguin 3.0 also seems to be punishing websites that deliver poor mobile optimization. This is a natural goal, given the increasing popularity of smart phones and other mobile devices, but can have serious repercussions for companies that have not focused on making their websites mobile-friendly.
Because of this development, SalesHub is encouraging their clients to optimize their websites for mobile usage, particularly in light of the December 6 update, which set a number of standards for websites. According to these new requirements, content on a website must not be wider than the screen of the mobile device, links must not be so close together that users can accidentally select the wrong link, text must be large enough to read, and the site must fit content to the screen so that users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom. Additionally, websites must avoid using mobile software like Flash, as Google bots cannot read this content.
To help clients meet these new requirements, SalesHub is offering a mobile-friendly website revamp, which includes their bundled services, to ensure that their clients achieve and maintain high rankings in Google’s search results. The company reports that it will take them less than two weeks to fully renovate a client’s website to be mobile-ready. As part of this process, they will check their clients’ websites with a mobile-friendly test released by Google, which analyzes whether or not the site is geared towards hand-held devices.
While some websites may have been reluctant to invest in mobile optimization in the past, SalesHub is adamant that this step is necessary to avoid penalizations from Google.
“Google’s latest algorithm update affects websites that haven’t yet converted to a responsive design for mobile and tablet devices,” said Matthew Cook, CEO of SalesHub. “The Penguin update will negatively impact a client’s visibility in a search engine unless they opt for the mobile optimization, which will offer a positive impact on Internet traffic and overall revenue. The ones who aren't making these changes are going to suffer because their sites aren't going to be visible on mobile devices.”
SalesHub has also pointed out that mobile optimization makes websites more attractive to their users, who are increasingly likely to use mobile devices to browse the web.
“2015 will no doubt be the biggest year yet in mobile optimization, and it will continue to grow until there’s some other form of disruptive technology,” said Cook. “This is just another step in the evolution of the buyer. Most of the sales process is in their hands -- they're educating themselves on their own terms, what they want, how they find it and when they want it. Whether that's going to be on a tablet or mobile device, you can be sure that your website is serving up content in all these forms so that people can get to your products and services on their own terms."
SalesHub admits that, like other SEO marketing companies, they are unable to predict the full effects or release dates of Google’s algorithm updates. However, because the recent updates seem to be rolling out slowly and taking effect over time, it is important not to wait until after the holidays to make sure websites are in line.
