CL Wiott Design and Associates Teams up with Operation Home Front to give a Military Family a Merry Christmas
Reston, VA (PRWEB) December 23, 2014 -- Army staff sergeant Brandon, his wife Jen, and their six children received a huge Christmas surprise when they arrived home yesterday morning. CL Wiott Design, is an Interior Design Firm in Northern VA and proud member of HSSG, an elite group of home services professionals offering their services to homeowners. The group pooled together their resources and worked with Operation Home Front, a national non-profit that provides assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors.
Brandon will be deploying to Germany in February, on a two-year unaccompanied assignment, leaving his wife at home with six children. With such a long absence, the family was in need of a space they could comfortably live in. “I met with Jen in October to get a feel for how the family uses their home and how she would like the space to work” says Christine Wiott, Owner of CL Wiott Design. “The only requirements she had were to use earth tones and to incorporate a Noah’s Arc hand carved by her father. I needed to make sure there was enough space for everybody to do different things, but to still be together as a family."
Christine utilized her firm’s interior design services to create a floor plan that made Jen’s vision a reality. Painting the walls a light beige and adding recessed lighting donated by Dulles Electric, a military owned lighting company, she lightened the space and made it more inviting. Together with Todd Carter, owner of Tailored Living, CL Wiott Design also created a new kids nook where studying, gaming and relaxing can be done by the six children while still being close to the family living area. To add a finishing touch to the space, they also brought in a Christmas tree and filled it with presents for the kids.
"This basement has been a project for the last five years, full of starts and restarts. Now, I'm just so excited and happy for my family -- this is truly amazing," says Brandon. "I thought I'd just be excited and happy, but more emotions came out than I was ready to handle. It means people appreciate what we do as a military and this kind of appreciation is very nice to see and…this really feels like home.”
