Christian School Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary with New Name

Our new logo for Bloomfield Christian School

Changing our name to Bloomfield Christian School begins an exciting new chapter in our history, but our commitment to high academic standards and a classical, Christian curriculum is unchanged and stronger than ever.

Christian Leadership Academy will ring in the new year with a new name: Bloomfield Christian School.

Bringing in the New Year With a New Name

After serving the Detroit area with outstanding classical Christian education for the past 20 years, Christian Leadership Academy has announced that effective January 1, 2015, their name will become Bloomfield Christian School (BCS). They recently celebrated their 20th year with a move to a new facility in Bloomfield Township that better accomodates their continued growth. The K-12 classical Christian school moved from Troy to Bloomfield Township in 2013 and the change in name reflects the school’s permanence in its new, expanded facility located at 3570 Telegraph Road.

“This is the perfect time to make the change to Bloomfield Christian School. We are now firmly settled into our new home in Bloomfield Township and the response has been tremendous. Our new facility offers an incredible atmosphere for children to learn and to grow.” - Tony Antone, Board Member and father of 3 at Bloomfield Christian School.

The Mission. The Vision.

Though the name has changed, the mission of Bloomfield Christian School remains the same. Bloomfield Christian School’s mission is to teach children Biblical truths and classical academics from a Christian worldview so they may serve as bold and obedient ambassadors for Jesus Christ.
Bloomfield Christian School is a K-12 interdenominational classical Christian school, founded in 1994. The vision of the school’s founders was to offer a “back to basics” approach of educating children that builds a solid foundation on which future learning readily flourishes. That vision continues at Bloomfield Christian School in 2015.

The Bloomfield Christian School Difference.

Bloomfield Christian School is the only fully accredited classical Christian school in the state of Michigan recognized by the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).

“We are proud of our 20 year heritage of providing a distinctive K-12 education to students in Oakland County. Changing our name to Bloomfield Christian School begins an exciting new chapter in our history, but our commitment to high academic standards and a classical, Christian curriculum is unchanged and stronger than ever. We are proud to be the only accredited school of this type in the state of Michigan.” - John Pearson, Board member.

Classical Christian Education.

Classical Christian education targets the developmental level of the student by teaching basics in the beginning years, logic in the middle years and rhetoric in the high school years. Students are taught all subjects from a Biblical worldview allowing them to integrate their faith with their studies and producing leaders with strong character, discernment and a desire to serve the community – both local and worldwide. Bloomfield Christian School is a classical and Christian school dedicated to teaching students to know, reason, discern, and apply truth using Scripture and the classical liberal arts, thereby assisting parents to fulfill their God-given responsibility of child training.

“For twenty years, the teachers at Christian Leadership Academy have worked hard to provide our students with the tools to become life-long learners and exceptional thinkers. As we look forward to the future as Bloomfield Christian School, we do so with a commitment to continue to prepare our students to be young men and women of strong character who make a positive impact on the culture in which they live.” - Robin Schmidt, Headmaster at Bloomfield Christian School.

High Academic Standards.

Students at Bloomfield Christian School have achieved substantially higher ACT and SAT scores than students in other schools. They also attend the colleges of their choice, many with considerable scholarships. Parents and faculty echo enthusiastic praises for this excellent institution, as it becomes known by its new name -- Bloomfield Christian School.

"We support you and the board in this decision that looks forward to the bright future of our school." - Steve Buchan, parent.

“As students, faculty member and family of the school, we want to congratulate the board on a job well done. We know it takes boldness to make a decision like changing the name of the school.” - James & Becky Snider, parent and 1st grade teacher

“For two decades Christian Leadership Academy has provided families in the greater Detroit area with the opportunity for a distinctly Christian and classical education. As both a parent and a teacher, I’m excited about our new name, Bloomfield Christian School, which reflects not only our continued commitment to excellent Christian education, but also our permanence in the community as we are now established in our new facility in Bloomfield Township.” - Drue Porter, Language Arts, Head.
