1970’s teen idol Bobby Sherman and Brigitte Poublon are committed to the mission of their Children’s Foundation and meeting their fundraising goal this holiday season.
BBSCF launched its first-ever fundraising campaign, Start the Cycle, in early December with the goal of raising $6,000 to add 10 highly deserving, yet underprivileged students to its education and music program in Ghana. The fundraising campaign has already raised over half of the goal amount, and Bobby Sherman fans across the United States have played a huge role in supporting BBSCF’s Start the Cycle fundraiser.
Bobby is truly getting into the spirit of giving with this fundraiser, and he is adding a personal touch to many of the incentives offered to donors. For example, donors can enjoy the ultimate fan experience – brunch with Bobby and Brigitte. Donors also have the opportunity to receive two personalized CDs from Bobby, a signed copy of his official biography, a foundation t-shirt, or one-of-a-kind bracelets made by the BBSCF students in Ghana.
“For our generous donors who are supporting our deserving students in Ghana, Bobby and I wanted to acknowledge their donations in a memorable way,” said Brigitte Poublon, BBSCF Co-founder and CEO. “We can’t wait to find out who will be going to brunch with us and to personally share with them why BBSCF is so important to us!”
BBSCF provides students in Ghana with the resources to excel in academic subjects and the opportunity to learn and appreciate art, dance, and music. The program is very unique because it provides students in a developing country with guitar and piano lessons in addition to the basic education curriculum. Students are selected for their academic potential, desire to succeed and financial need. Since their participation in the program, their grades have improved and their musical skills are flourishing.
Brigitte and Bobby are asking their friends, supporters, and community members to join them in starting the cycle of success for 10 new students. Since 2011, the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation (BBSCF) has been providing motivated students in Ghana with a high quality education and music program, thus giving them the tools they need to pursue higher education and become successful, contributing adults. BBSCF funds primary and secondary school tuition and fees, tutoring and enrichment activities, and music lessons focusing on indigenous and other world music. There are 30 students in the program for the 2014 – 2015 school year in the cities of Accra and Ada. Learn more about BBSCF at http://www.bbscfoundation.org.
