Team Abdallah Hosts Mike Tyson in Western New York
Lockport, NY (PRWEB) December 23, 2014 -- World Kickboxing Association Cruiserweight Intercontinental Champion and the no. 2 ranked kickboxer in the world, Amer Abdallah, made history outside of the ring on November 15, 2014.
Two years ago, Abdallah met one of his boxing idols, Mike Tyson, in Las Vegas, Nevada when he was in training camp preparing for a title defense at the Mayweather Boxing Gym.
“My entire life, I had watched this ruthless champion reign the heavyweight division and conquer anyone put in front of him,” said Abdallah. “The mere mention of his name instilled fear on any of his opponents.”
Shortly after returning to Western New York from his camp in Nevada, Abdallah began planning on bringing the youngest heavyweight champion to his hometown and community. Earlier this year, Abdallah reached out to the Tyson camp and officially invited him to visit Western New York and interact with his fans.
Abdallah’s promotion company, Lace Up Promotions, set up an exclusive “Mike Tyson Experience” in the heart of downtown Buffalo at the historic Statler City Hotel, where fans were able to get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to privately meet with the former heavyweight champion of the world, have a professional picture taken and even get an autographed glove signed by the champ. Tyson interacted with fans all morning long into the early afternoon as he playfully and delightedly interacted with local fans.
On November 15th, the entire Western New York community welcomed Mike Tyson with open arms. Seneca Poker & Entertainment Group proudly jumped on board and sponsored the event. Russ Salvatore opened up his hotel to host the Tyson camp at his luxurious Salvatore’s Grand Hotel. Marc Croce was delighted to host the event at his beautiful Statler City Hotel. Joe Todaro and his team at La Nova Pizza ensured flyers went out in every order to their customers to invite them to meet Tyson. Moe’s Southwestern Grill did giveaways at four of their locations. Entercom Radio promoted the event on all of their top radio stations and set up live interviews with Kiss 98.5, WBEN News Radio and WGR550 Sports Radio. Phoenix Apparel provided all event T-shirts for fans to remember the experience by. Status Limousine provided Tyson with upscale and world-class transportation services while he was in town.
“The support we received from our entire WNY community was truly overwhelming,” Abdallah stated. “Our team was sincerely humbled by the amazing feedback we received.”
The event was a tremendous success and a display that Buffalo is truly the “City of Good Neighbors.”
Later that night, Tyson made his way to Lockport, where Lace Up Promotions presented the “Legends Rise” kickboxing event at the Kenan Arena. Lace Up’s Kevin VanNostrand of Team Andrello in Liverpool, NY stole the show with another electrifying display of Muay Thai skill landing him a knockout victory over Aaron Castellvi of Toronto, Canada. At one point during the VanNostrand fight, Tyson jumped out of his seat at the display of sheer athleticism and amazing striking by VanNostrand. Other fighters Tyson enjoyed watching were Team Andrello’s “Arabian Nightmare” Luay Ashkar, Krudar’s Janice Lynn and WNY MMA’s “Son of a Legend” Joe Taylor.
One fan in attendance stated, “I couldn’t believe Mike Tyson was actually in Lockport and walking through the Kenan Arena. It was surreal!”
