Honolulu, HI (PRWEB) December 24, 2014
The National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC) announced today that they will be featured in an upcoming episode of Innovations with Ed Begley Jr, airing 2nd QTR 2015, via Discovery Channel. Dates and show times TBA.
The NDPTC works collaboratively to develop and deliver training and education in the areas of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery to governmental, private, tribal, and non-profit entities, and under-represented/under-served communities.
In this segment, viewers will be educated on the inner workings of the NDPTC and how they incorporate urban planning and environmental management, emphasizing community preparedness and addressing the needs of vulnerable at-risk populations.
“With a specific focus on natural hazards, coastal communities, and the special needs and opportunities of islands and territories, the NDPTC is authorized to develop and deliver training and educational programs related to homeland security and disaster management,” said Amanda Sweeney, Producer for the series. “We look forward to showcasing the NDPTC in this episode.”
The NDPTC is a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC). Established in 1998, the NDPC is the primary training partner of the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. The NDPC, a seven member professional alliance, is the principal means through which FEMA identifies, develops, tests, and delivers training to state and local emergency responders. Each consortium member provides training in its specialized area at no cost to participants. The NDPC has trained well over 2 million people throughout the United States and its territories.
