Technology Literacy Assessment for 2015 Now Available to Texas Districts
Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 06, 2015 -- For the fifth straight year, Texas districts will have free access to a technology literacy assessment for eighth grade students through the continuation of a partnership between the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) and Learning.com. More than 166,000 assessments were delivered by 291 districts during the 2013-14 school year.
For districts who have not already registered, they can request participation by completing an online request form at: http://www.tcea.org/assessment. The deadline to register is Feb. 12, 2015 and the last day the assessment will be available is June 12, 2015.
The online assessment is based on the Technology Applications TEKS (TA-TEKS) and includes a blend of interactive, performance-based, multiple-choice and knowledge-based questions to measure and report technology skills for middle school students.
“It’s imperative that today’s students have digital literacy skills and are able to apply technology to their learning,” said Keith Oelrich, Learning.com CEO. “The assessment provides Texas educators with data to help them better understand student skill gaps so they can provide targeted instruction to ensure their 8th grade students are prepared for high school.”
“This assessment helps educators provide the best possible instruction for their students, which is TCEA’s foremost mission,” Executive Director Lori Gracey commented. “By extending our partnership with Learning.com, TCEA can support even more teachers, administrators, and students who are using technology for teaching and learning.”
