"I started the Paso Robles Daily News to fill the void in local news and the response has been huge" - Scott Brennan

The Paso Robles Daily News recently celebrated its second anniversary and released new stats showing tremendous growth. The news website, launched in November of 2012, has grown to become the most comprehensive news source for Paso Robles and the surrounding areas.

The first few months of the site saw average website traffic of about 4,000 views per month. Now the site is getting more than 4,000 views per day, typically about 150,000 views per month.  The high volume of readership comes from the site's 7,895 fans on Facebook, 3,584 followers on Twitter, approximately 1,000 daily Internet searches on Google, and 2,388 daily email subscribers. In just two years, the site has published 3,200 articles on local news and events. The site continues to publish over 150 articles per month, far out-pacing any other local news outlet.

The site includes sections on Paso Robles, local business, community, opinion, Templeton, a popular wine industry section, entertainment, politics, region, sports and a new section launched this year – Atascadero news. One of the site's most popular features is the regular updates of Lake Nacimiento water levels.

Scott Brennan, owner of Access Publishing, started the Paso Robles Daily News. "There was a huge gap in news coverage in Paso Robles and north San Luis Obispo County," says the site's editor and publisher. "Being in local media, I would receive dozens of press releases from local organizations that no one was publishing. Plus, the local news outlets erected pay walls that restricted access to information without a paying subscription."

"I started the Paso Robles Daily News to fill the void in local news and the response has been huge," Brennan said. "Thank you to all of our subscribers, readers, contributors and advertisers." The website now boasts over 50 regular advertisers, with advertising options starting at just $99 per month, Brennan says.

Advertising in the Paso Robles Daily News gets results. Zan Overturf, owner of the Treeman nursery in Paso Robles, recently ran a coupon for the month of October. "It was, by far, the most successful coupon that I have ever run...I received more coupons back than all the coupons I have ever run cumulatively over the years... I have stacks of them. It is obvious people are looking at the site," she said.
