DJO Global Contributes $25,000 to Support Center of Excellence
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) December 30, 2014 -- DJO Global, Inc, renewed its membership in the Foundation for Physical Therapy’s Partners in Research program as a Platinum Level Partner, with a donation of $25,000 directed to the Center of Excellence (COE) Initiative.
The mission of the Center of Excellence for Health Services/Health Policy Research is to significantly expand the number of physical therapist investigators specializing in health services/health policy research—including the delivery, organization, and financing of care, and analysis of outcomes.
The Foundation has raised more than $3.1 million to fund a Center of Excellence, and to support research grants and scholarships through its internal funding mechanism. The Foundation anticipates announcing the recipient of the $2.5 million Center of Excellence grant during APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting in February.
“The Foundation is grateful for DJO Global’s continued support and their generous contribution to this important initiative,” said Foundation Board of Trustees President William G. Boissonnault, PT, DPT, DHSc, FAPTA, FAAOMPT. “Backing from our corporate partners like DJO is vital to continue funding emerging physical therapy scientists and advancing the profession.”
DJO Global is a provider of orthopedic devices used for rehabilitation, pain management, and physical therapy. DJO brands include Empi, Chattanooga, Aircast, and DonJoy, among others.
“DJO has been a long-standing supporter of the Foundation for Physical Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association, and we are delighted to support the Foundation’s Center of Excellence initiative with this special donation,” said Sharon Wolfington, president of recovery sciences, DJO Global. “Both organizations are committed to keeping people in motion in order to improve overall community health. We both agree that we need to measure the quality of our patient treatments and devices to bring the greatest value in a cost-effective manner. We look forward to continuing the pursuit of high-quality conservative and surgical care management for healthy and happy communities across the country.”
