HeavyTaste has launched Australia’s first footwear Kickstarter project called The Street Slip – A Party For Your Feet to raise funds for its new and improved 2014 collection. Through the campaign, HeavyTaste hopes to reach buyers in the global market. As an incentive, prospective backers will receive a discounted price on any of the shoes from the 2013 and 2014 collections.
The HeavyTaste Street Slip combines the stylistic benefits of the traditional oxford and derby with the ease of wear that comes with loafers and boat shoes. An improvement upon these designs, The Street Slip takes a matter of seconds to put on, holds firm to the wearer’s feet, all the while maintaining a luxury look to suit any occasion. HeavyTaste products are handmade with genuine leather to ensure quality throughout the range.
The Street Slip is not only an innovative product; it has real meaning behind it too. “Every purchase of a Street Slip not only ensures our buyers receive a quality product, but also offers support to Australian social enterprises,” states HeavyTaste Co-Founder, Samuel Choong.
With each pair of shoes, buyers will receive a bag of coffee beans from STREAT, a social enterprise working to empower disadvantaged Australian youths. Portions of each sale of a Street Slip go toward supporting STREAT, without any increased cost to the consumer.
As part of HeavyTaste’s commitment to wearable fashion, the 2014 collection of Street Slips will come with memory foam insoles with trademarked arch support to improve comfort and wearability. The Kickstarter campaign runs February 12 through March 19, with a full delivery completion date scheduled for late May.
In 2012, three friends grew frustrated by the lack of functional innovation being showcased in the footwear industry. It seemed as though wearers became accustomed to blisters, repetitive styles, and ill-fitting shoes. It was from this thought, that HeavyTaste was born.
