UN Office for Partnerships and PVBLIC Foundation Host First-Ever Media for Social Impact Summit
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 11, 2014 -- On Friday, April 11, 2014, PVBLIC Foundation and the UN Office for Partnerships will host the 2014 Media for Social Impact Summit, a nomination-only event that unites representatives of leading media companies, advertising firms and creative agencies with UN experts to highlight the power of media to drive social change and strategize campaigns around pressing global issues. The event will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
The summit is the first of its kind and will honor 150 delegates who are doing game-changing social impact work in the media space. Throughout the day, PVBLIC Foundation will present three Media for Social Impact Awards to individuals and campaigns that exemplify the power of media to ignite change. The Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Steve Gleason, a retired NFL player and founder of Team Gleason, an organization that uses media to raise awareness about ALS. Other winners of the Media for Social Impact Awards include Dove’s “Real Women Real Bodies” campaign and actor Adrian Grenier, who is the co-founder of SHFT.com.
“PVBLIC Foundation is thrilled to host the Media for Social Impact Summit with our friends at the UN Office for Partnerships,” said Rachel Cohen Gerrol, Executive Director of the PVBLIC Foundation. “We look forward to bringing the best and brightest in media together to build meaningful partnerships that further social progress. The Media for Social Impact Summit is about finding real solutions and then putting them into action.”
Delegates will engage in a range of activities throughout the day, including panel discussions, innovation exchanges, strategy sessions and roundtable pitches.
