CT Swimmer Returns with Three First Place Finishes and Hopes for Gold at US Finals

After almost three decades out of the water Matthew Gordon returns with a splash.

Former competitive swimmer Matthew Gordon has returned to competition with three regional first place victories in three entries, after being dormant for almost 30 years. Matthew plans on attempting to come home with gold in the US Finals in Santa Clara this Saturday.

“This was really shocking and I think I have a great chance at performing with the top competitors in the world,” said Matthew Gordon after his most recent victory in the US Masters Swim Regional in Springfield, Mass.

On Sunday Matthew will be entering the US Finals in Santa Clara as an underdog in the Men’s 50 Yard’s fly.

His results this year are as follows.

  •     First Annual Spring Fling Swim Meet a first place finish in the 50 year old age group in the 50 Yard Fly with a time of 26.50
  •     New England LMSC SCY Championships 1rst Place for the 50 year old age group in the 50 yard Fly with a time of 25.78
  •     Wilton Wahoo Masters Fall Short Course Meters Meet 1rst Place for the 50 year old age group in the 50 Meter Fly with a time of 28.95

Matthew is grateful that his recent training has allowed him to complete at this level and is thrilled to be allowed to compete with athletes of this caliber. “I am just excited to be in the field with all of these amazing athletes,” Matthew said when he knew that he was going to officially make the cut for the finals.
