The recipes are predominantly a combination of American and Jamaican cuisine that the author was able to learn during her immersion in both cultures. This book was predominantly written to give readers a taste of cuisine from both American and Jamaican cultures, while helping readers live a healthy life.

About the Author
Born and raised in the parish of west rural Saint Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, Beverley D. Thomas-Smith is the first of six children for her parents. She grew up in a large family where everyone likes to cook and bake, hence her passion for the culinary arts started at an early age. Thomas-Smith migrated to the United States in 1992 and has been working in the healthcare industry for over 20 years now. She holds a bachelor’s degree in health services administration and a master’s degree in public health. In addition to cooking, baking and entertaining, she also likes reading, gardening and listening to music of various types. Thomas-Smith or “Auntie Bev” as she is affectionately called resides in the Bronx, N.Y. with her family for the past 22 years. This book, “Auntie Bev’s Home-Style Cuisine” is her first book.
