New Tube Capper/De-capper Offers High Flexibility at a Low Price
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- With true one-handed operation, one does not have to put down a pipette to close a tube, making capping or de-capping faster. The Capper helps reduce contamination because the cap remains untouched through the entire process – dirty gloves or bare hands are no longer a source of problems. The Capper has a small, portable footprint for use on the lab bench or in the hood and has been designed for ergonomics to reduce hand fatigue and repetitive stress injuries.
The Capper offers the following features in a small benchtop footprint (16” H x 7”W x 8”D):
• Semi-automated, easy-to-use, one-handed operation
• Adjustable RPM
• Variable cap heads to accommodate 1.5 ml to 50 ml tubes
• Very low price
“As a kit and reagent company, we find ourselves capping hundreds of microtubes in one production run. We invented the Capper to not only increase our throughput, but more importantly to reduce repetitive strain, especially during the final twist of the cap to ensure it is tight. It is nice to have the instrument take care of that,” said Greg Richardson, President of Gel Company.
Gel Company manufactures products for Genomics, Proteomics, Cell Biology, Microarray, and Lab Equipment. The Capper is an addition to the “Lab Essentials” line offered by Gel Company, which are products intended to help scientists manage day-to-day tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
“This is a very affordable instrument considering the multiple capping heads and manual torque adjustment features. Also, you avoid touching the junction between cap and vial, thereby reducing a possible source of contamination,” said Richardson. Patent Pending.
