Dr. Richard Weathers’ New Book Offers Bible-based Insights on the Nature and Cure for Mental Illness
ROGERSVILLE, Mo (PRWEB) July 07, 2014 -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines mental illness as disorders generally characterized by dysregulation of mood, thought and/or behavior. These disorders can affect persons of any age, race, religion or income. In his new book, “God's Psychology,” Dr. Richard E. Weathers, PsyD invites readers to study mental illness in light of what the Bible says.
“God’s Psychology” discusses how God views mental conditions and how sin affects that condition. This book is built upon the passage in Romans 6:23. Dr. Weathers explains that if the wages of sin is death then one must look into God’s psychology and learn from him.
“How to break the curse that is upon us, that includes all of us,” he says, “I hope this book will help readers further understand the purpose of God’s thinking toward us and his solution to the problem; how he sent his son, Jesus, to destroy the death sentence that we all face.”
“God’s Psychology” is not designed to replace traditional practices and treatments in psychology. Rather it is a wakeup call for Christians to do their part in helping those who are struggling with a mental condition.
“Whether they (patients) deal with cognitive issues or behavior patterns of disruption in their lives – these problems have to be dealt with by all of us – Christian, psychologists, or secular,” Dr. Weathers says, “We must all do our best to minister to the mentally ill.”
