Belvoir Federal Supports 2nd Annual ‘La Leche League’ of Fort Belvoir

Woodbridge, VA (PRWEB) August 15, 2014 -- On August 9, 2013, Belvoir Federal sponsored the “La Leche League” of Fort Belvoir by donating a gift card and cases of water for Fort Belvoir’s Second Annual Breastfeeding Recognition Ceremony.

“La Leche League,” which is the most renowned mother-to-mother breastfeeding support group, had 101 people in attendance. Thirty-nine mothers were recognized with a coin for their extraordinary achievement in breastfeeding to symbolize the dedicated six months of exclusive breastfeeding.

The organization also acknowledged mothers who beat the odds with getting Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies back to the breast, nursing children with disabilities or chronic illnesses, and making it to two years of breastfeeding.

In addition to the league and supports of the organization, the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital command and medical personnel came out to congratulate the mothers.

Nikki Killings, Fort Belvoir’s La Leche League Leader, stated, "Thanks to Belvoir Federal Credit Union, we were able to host yet another successful event. The resources, advice, and donations were invaluable. The water and gift card were used to provide refreshments and cover expenses. How fortunate we are to have a partner in Belvoir Federal! We couldn't have done it without you!"
