Author PY Cheng shares his painful experience with researchers and scientists so that they need not waste so much time on learning to run statistical test correctly with his publication, “How to find Inter-Groups Differences Using SPSS/Excel/Web Tools In Common Experimental Designs” (published by Xlibris AU). He also aims to help people without expensive software to get identical results using Excel, in addition of a few, simply manual steps.
There are two main purposes for this book – the first one is to skip the complicated theories behind the statistical tests and just show users how to solve typical problems with computer clearly, so that they can handle the necessary skill for solving problems at the first time, without being apprehensive with the difficult explanations in the theories.
The second one is to show how free software e.g. Excel, in additional to a few simple manual steps, can work out same results output of expensive software, e.g. SPSS. This might be the most valuable part of the book, since the author can hardly find similar materials in other sources, especially on the two-way analysis. He worked out all the SPSS correspondence with Excel etc. all by himself.
For researchers and scientists who want to just get a correct statistical interpretation as soon as possible, or in an environment lacking expensive statistical software, “How to find Inter-Groups Differences Using SPSS/Excel/Web Tools In Common Experimental Designs” might be very useful to follow.

About the Author
When PY Cheng entered the department in 1985, he was assigned for using the SPSS software for running statistics tests. There were hardly any PCs at that time, and they used terminals connecting to their mainframe computer in their Computer Center for running the software. He completed his First Degree and Master Degree respectively in the University of Hong Kong. He completed a ‘Master of Public Health’ with major in Medical Statistical that made him aware hard he has to work for really understanding the statistical topics.
