Simple thoughts wrapped in a cocoon of beautiful words pervade Shanon Jacobs’ “UNVEILED – My Story.” Featuring couplets that tell her personal story and the way her experiences have shaped her, Jacobs writes with poignant clarity.
Believing that everybody’s experiences are unique, Jacobs now reveals the layers of her own personal history, seeking to inspire and to express herself fully. Her poetry is about life’s ups and downs, things that everyone can relate to. Letting readers into her life, she relies on poems that feature the crucial people who have affected her the most: the man that got away, the three women who sought to bring her down, her best friend, her boyfriend, and her father. Expressing her fears, doubts and triumphs amidst life’s storms, Jacobs has created a poetry collection that is at times heartwarming, at times painful, and at all times pensive, letting readers get a closer glimpse at a woman who has been tested time and again, only to refuse to be bogged down.
Tested by time and fate, by love and loss, Jacobs speaks from the heart with thought-provoking honesty. From childhood to adulthood, and the many tumultuous times in between, Jacobs lets readers see the complete panorama of the woman she has become.
