Authors Sharada Jnawali and Cibeleh Da Mata says that today’s society is marred by fast foods, junk foods and more refined foods that create several health problems like diabetes, immune deficiency syndrome, hormonal imbalance, renal and heart diseases, to name a few. All these health issues are also related to sedentary lifestyles, lack of time for physical activities, dependence on high tech education and professional works—all of which can be balanced by healthy foods and modifying eating patterns.

Nepali Home Cooking for Healthy Living” (published by Xlibris AU) is an attempt to create awareness on food, nutrition and use of kitchen spices and herbs for promoting health and fitness. It also aims to revive traditional foods and good cultural practices that the younger generation has gradually forgotten to appreciate. It assembles a comprehensive package of information that caters to audience interested in healthier living, smarter looking and intelligent thinking.

“Nepali Home Cooking for Healthy Living” provides links between food and health/nutrition. For the authors, it is not important how to cook certain foods, but more important is to educate audience on what includes in the food in terms of nutritional values that help prevent several diseases and keep the body and mind fit.
