The “Truth About Pigs” is the story of A. Pig, his sloppy ways and lack of personal hygiene. People can sometimes take on sloppy ways and bad habits, which can make others uncomfortable. Through the story of A. Pig, Nichols enables young readers to identify these ways and habits, and in so doing they can make cleanliness and organization a priority by changing bad habits.
A. Pig’s lifestyle provides examples of how children and people in general should not live. With the rhyming and rhythm of the text as well as the colorful, well-drawn pictures, it conveys its ideas in an inoffensive manner.
