Congressman Gerald E. Connolly Issues Congressional Proclamation Recognizing National AAP Recognition Day
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) February 11, 2014 -- Today, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly of Virginia issued a Congressional Proclamation recognizing National Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Recognition Day. Celebrated annually on the second Tuesday of February, AAP Recognition Day highlights the importance of the AAP credential, as well as celebrates the achievements and contributions of AAPs nationwide. Within the Congressional Proclamation, Congressman Connolly acknowledges and commends the more than 4,000 AAPs who, “through their expertise, help safeguard the quality of the ACH Network and the billions of transactions that flow through it.”
The AAP credential establishes one’s credibility, professional competency, and expertise within the payments industry. To be awarded the AAP credential, individuals must pass a comprehensive exam, which is administered by NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association, each fall. The exam tests an individual’s knowledge of a variety of subjects including the NACHA Operating Rules; the ACH Network and other payments systems; technical and operational ACH requirements; risk management; and payments-related regulations.
"NACHA applauds Congressman Connolly for recognizing February 11, 2014, as National AAP Recognition Day,” said Janet O. Estep, president and CEO of NACHA. “AAPs are recognized ACH payments experts, continually working to maintain confidence in ACH payments and the safety, reliability and quality of the ACH Network. Congressman Connolly’s action today underscores the significance of the AAP credential and the value AAPs provide to the greater payments community.”
In recognition of National AAP Recognition Day, each year NACHA partners with the Regional Payments Associations (RPAs) to honor and recognize AAPs in unique ways across the country. This year, NACHA and the RPAs will commemorate National AAP Recognition Day by flying a U.S. flag over the United States Capitol in Washington, DC. Additionally, AAPs will be recognized at the annual AAP Reception, sponsored by the RPAs and held during the PAYMENTS 2014 Conference, April 6-9 in Orlando, Fl. This year, the flag flown over the Capitol on AAP Recognition Day will be awarded to an AAP during this event.
