(PRWEB) November 12, 2014 -- The Bulldogs Care Foundation (BCF) is proud to announce that Assistant General Manager of The New York Knicks and former NBA All-Star, Allan Houston, has been named the 2014 Bulldogs Care Foundation MVP. Chosen for his philanthropic accomplishments, Houston will receive the honor at BCF’s 8h Annual Tip Off To Success on Thursday, November 13th at the Altman Building in New York City.
At this year's event, BCF will also honor New York City youth programs that utilize a combination of sports and academics and have given so much of themselves to at-risk youth including Harlem RBI, Figure Skating in Harlem, CitySquash and Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership. "Our extraordinary honorees have each demonstrated a commitment to utilizing a combination of sports and academics to build self-esteem, confidence and responsibility for at-risk youth in our community. We applaud their passion and spirit” said Paul Ardire, President of The Bulldogs Care Foundation.
The evening will include sampling from a number of restaurants and spirit companies, a silent and live auction and great live music. Proceeds from the gala will benefit BCF’s outreach and education programs. "Everyone experiences growing pains during childhood, but for at-risk youth the pains are much greater. BCF believes in the power of sports-based youth programs as a tool for coaching and mentoring students” Steven Duke, Chairman of The Bulldogs Care Foundation.

About Bulldogs Care Foundation:
Bulldogs Care Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) that was founded in memory of four Yale University Bulldogs and seeks to support disadvantaged youth as they pursue personal development through programs in athletics, education and mentoring. Positive academic and athletic experiences create the types of development opportunities these children are missing. Through sports, children can also assume leadership roles, learn to handle conflict and manage their time, bond with new friends and improve relationships with adults. For all these reasons and more, BCF is committed to creating these opportunities for local youth in New York City.
