Charles Hooks had always wanted to become a published poet and author. After the Vietnam War, he started to make his dreams come true. Today, at 69, he introduces “Love is Poetry, My Dreams and A Tribute to My Dad” to the literary world.

Love is Poetry, My Dreams and A Tribute to My Dad” is a book of poetry filled with soulful verses that evoke an array of emotions—happiness, sorrow, anticipation and longing.

Love is Poetry, the first part, contains poems that highlight the endless search for love and the pain of losing it. My Dreams talks about a man who thinks he is too old for love. He spent 25 years without someone, except in his dreams. His dreams are entirely different from the life he lives; it is a new world where happiness and love dwell. This man vividly recalls his dreams through reflective literary pieces. The third part is A Tribute to My Dad. This is a publication of five of my dad’s (Boyd Hooks’s) lost poems he wrote in the 1950’s and 60’s. He too dreamed of publishing his poems but in the past years his collection has been lost. He’s gone now and I decided to put them in my book as a tribute to him.

These and other poems emphasize intense emotions that stir readers and help them discover the purpose of living and loving. It will make them reminisce their first love, recall their dreams and make them dream forever.
