Dr. Laura T. Lawrence, Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, Joins Dallas-Fort Worth Fertility Associates
(PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- For over 15 years, Dallas-Fort Worth Fertility Associates has offered compassionate care and medical expertise to area residents struggling to conceive. Drs. Samuel Chantilis, Karen Lee, Mika Thomas and Ravi Gada deliver leading-edge therapies that help infertile couples achieve their dreams of parenthood. As part of a continued commitment to their patients, Dallas-Fort Worth Fertility Associates is happy to announce the recent addition of Dr. Laura T. Lawrence to their team.
“We are very happy to welcome Dr. Lawrence to our practice,” Founding Partner Dr. Chantilis said. “Her first-rate education, along with her research background and personal experience, make Dr. Lawrence a valuable asset to both our staff and our patients.”
Dr. Lawrence’s distinguished education began at Rice University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She went on to receive her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lawrence completed her Ob/Gyn residency, as well as her Fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology, at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
During her residency, Dr. Lawrence had a special interest in teaching, and she received the Resident of the Year teaching award. Says Dr. Lawrence: “My love of teaching benefits my patients because I always place special emphasis on educating women about every aspect of their care.”
Dr. Lawrence has a personal interest in PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) because she was diagnosed with the syndrome in her teens. This experience led her to pursue nationally recognized research into PCOS. Her research investigating glucose intolerance and its corresponding effect on reproduction was supported by several prestigious grants and selected for presentation at multiple national meetings. She was also honored with a Society of Gynecologic Investigation President’s Presenter award.
“Her experience with and research into PCOS, in addition to her special interest in areas like low egg reserve, repeated miscarriages and male factor infertility, will provide our patients with an empathetic and informed approach that they will appreciate,” adds Dr. Chantilis.
For the past five years, Dr. Lawrence has been in practice in the Fort Worth area, serving as the Medical Director of the Harris Methodist ARTS (IVF) Lab. She has been recognized repeatedly with the distinction of Top Doctors from Fort Worth magazine. Dr. Lawrence is looking forward to continuing her tradition of top-notch patient care as part of the DFW Fertility Associates team.
“I hope to use my personal experience and medical expertise to continue to help couples who are struggling with infertility to create their families. I understand their issues and empathize with their obstacles, and it’s an honor to help them.”
