To actress and author Sylva Kelegian, dogs have become more than devoted pets; they have become a cause. After adopting her first dog, she became immersed in a world most know nothing about – the world of dog rescue. In her new book, “God Spelled Backwards: The Journey of an Actress into the World of Dog Rescue” (published by Xlibris) Sylva shares the struggles and triumphs of rescue work and celebrates the joy of caring for and rescuing man’s best friend.

Kelegian first met Sammy, a strawberry blonde puppy, when she offered to walk a dog at a veterinarian’s office. Initially, she had second thoughts about adopting her but eventually she gave in and opened her heart and her home. Sylva’s concern for dogs, however, did not end with Sammy. When she moved to Los Angeles to be with her actor husband and continue her career, she became deeply involved in the animal rescue world. The journey chronicled in her book will give readers an insider’s look into what it’s like to be a dog rescuer in Hollywood, while juggling a marriage and a career.

“I believe animal lovers and even those who are not, will be interested in reading about how one person can make a difference,” says Kelegian.

Uplifting and eye-opening, “God Spelled Backwards” is an ode to the time-tested friendship between man and dog and an informative look into the realities of rescue work. Kelegian’s love for man’s best friend shines throughout this heartfelt account.
