National Association of Professional Women Announces Sharlene Justus, Partner, Administrator and Manager of AW Home Care, Inc., as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) March 04, 2014 -- NAPW honors Sharlene Justus as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in healthcare with this prestigious distinction. As the largest organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
“I realized that we ‘baby boomers’ are a major part of the ‘sandwich generation’ meaning we care for our children as well as our parents and most of us need to work to be able to provide for all three generations,” says Ms. Justus. “I wanted to help in any way that I could.”
Always interested in healthcare, Ms. Justus began her career as a radiological technologist and eventually moved on to project management. After surviving numerous rounds of company layoffs, she decided to "retire." But that didn’t last long. Never one to stay idle, she soon became involved in helping an acquaintance who wanted to provide home care in her community, which reignited her own dream of entrepreneurship. “I realized this was a perfect opportunity to develop the company I had been designing in my head over a period of seven years,” she said.
In 2011, Ms. Justus established AW Home Care, Inc., which “provides services to the undeserved” and is certified to care for Medicaid clients, the disabled and the elderly, in addition to private pay clients. As a certified senior advisor, Ms. Justus is also able to provide additional services to the elderly such as assisting them with finding ethical legal and financial advice and helping families with decision making.
From managing a staff of over 40 care givers to working with more than 100 clients and their families to developing customized care plans to conducting quarterly supervisory visits to ensure clients’ needs are met and state requirements are followed, Ms. Justus is instrumental in the success of AW Home Care, Inc.
Ms. Justus is looking forward to expanding the company and the important services it offers. “Within the next year we hope to have additional supervisors supporting the clients and employees in the outlying areas around Boulder, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock and Longmont,” she says.
