National Association of Professional Women Announces Chantal Lugo, Vice President of Human Resources at Union Rescue Mission, as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- NAPW honors Chantal Lugo as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in human resources with this prestigious distinction. “I have 20 years of human resources experience in various industries including retail, healthcare, gaming, publishing, manufacturing and nonprofit,” says Ms. Lugo, vice president of human resources at Union Rescue Mission (URM).
A nonprofit organization established in 1891, URM is located on Skid Row in Los Angeles. “Today, we are one of the largest rescue missions in the United States,” says Ms. Lugo. “URM is dedicated to serving men, women and children experiencing homelessness."
As the vice president of human resources, Ms. Lugo is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department, including managing employee relations, organizational management, recruiting, worker's compensation, policy administration, compliance, benefits administration and training. She also oversees employee safety.
Before joining URM, Ms. Lugo honed her industry skills while working in a variety of positions in the field of human resources. She received her master’s in public administration from California State University, Long Beach and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Ms. Lugo will now have the opportunity to share her knowledge and expertise with others as she takes on the added role of educator and begins teaching classes at the University of Redlands.
