In his remarkable new book, “Joe Oscar Undaunted – 1876” (published by Xlibris), author Denny Offner pens a story woven into the fabric of the history of the American frontier. Through this book, he strives to pass the legacy of frontier ancestors to their descendants to ensure that the unique history of their frontier heritage is accurately continued and maintained.
This book enables the reader to enter a portal into the American Frontier of 1876. They will ride with Joe Oscar and the Stewart herd of Texas longhorns across the Red River, up the trail, past the Wichita Mountains, through Indian Territory, and on into Dodge City; travel with Joe and Captain Grant Marsh from Saint Joseph Missouri to Fort Abraham Lincoln in the Dakota Territory on the steamer Josephine; be part of the Seventh Cavalry expedition as they search for the Lakota along the Little Missouri, Yellowstone and Little Bighorn rivers; hunt with the Custers, camp in the Wolf Mountains of the Montana Territory, and traverse the plains along with the buffalo, pronghorn, wolves and grizzlies. They will get to know Charlie Rath, the legendary Quanah Parker, Wyatt Earp, White Bull, George and Libbie Custer, and Wild Bill Hickok in this wild collection of adventures.
“Joe Oscar Undaunted – 1876” highlights human beings from vastly different backgrounds, immigrants from Russia and Italy and Ireland, freed African folk, Texans along with other folk who fought on both sides of the Civil War, Native Americans, others, all living with the conflict, struggle even for survival, and anguish of the time. It is their reaction to such predicaments that illustrates humans being more similar to each other than they are different.
