National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) Announces Publisher Resource Webpage for Aspiring Dance Education Writers
Silver Spring, Maryland (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- In response to member requests for a list of publishers, the National Dance Education Organization has launched a new Publisher Resource interactive web page for authors who wish to publish journal articles, books, and media about dance education. There is currently no other publishing resource of its kind available on the Web for writers of dance education.
All of the publishers listed on the web page have published articles, books, and media by NDEO authors and have given NDEO listing and copyright permission.
This resource is a one-stop shop and user-friendly site that includes images and links to over 50 publishers. In addition, each journal contains pertinent information about submission guidelines, subscriptions, availability in online or print, content and style guidelines, and the review process. There are several ways to sort through the page based on writing topics and distribution categories.
In addition, there is important information regarding how to get published. This additional information is a result of NDEO’s conference writing sessions and tips recommended by writers, Theresa Purcell Cone, Gayle Kassing, Julie Kerr-Berry, Wendy Oliver, Helene Scheff, Marty Sprague, Ted Warburton, and Charles Woodford. According to the experts, “Step One” of the writing process is to “Ponder an Idea.” NDEO recommends that writers consult the Dance Education Literature and Research descriptive index (http://www.ndeo.org/delrdi) for topics to write about.
NDEO’s 2004 Research Priorities for Dance Education Report to the Nation revealed several topics that are under-researched and initiated a call for further research to advance the field. These categories include Creative Process, Neuroscience/Brain Research, Student Achievement, Affective Domain, Student Performance, Equity, Cultural and World Dance, and Children-at-Risk.
According to Susan McGreevy-Nichols, the Executive Director of NDEO, “Now there is a place for our members to go to in order to advance our field. We are also trying to impact other fields as well. When looking through the list of journal publishers, our members should consider interdisciplinary arts and education journals, so that we can continue to raise awareness for the legitimacy of dance education research.”
