NAPW honors Karyn K. Krystalvine, P.M.P., as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
“I started out as a U.S. Marine, where I learned telecommunications and data communications repair (soldering circuit boards),” says Ms. Krystalvine, explaining how she became involved in the telecommunications industry.
After leaving the military, Ms. Krystalvine continued on her career path, earning certification in project management through the Project Management Institute, Inc., which she considers to be one her biggest professional accomplishments. “P.M.P. is the most important document I could obtain for furthering my career. It took me a year of studying on my own, but I passed the exam on the first attempt,” she says. Ms. Krystalvine also has Scrum Master certification.
As a senior project manager at Westfield, LLC, a leading telecommunications company, Ms. Krystalvine manages and controls high-dollar, high-impact information technology and network projects, from high-speed circuit installation to Wi-Fi and CCTV. Ms. Krystalvine expertly manages all details of every project, from start to finish, seeing that they are completed on time and on budget. She effectively communicates to staff and colleagues what is needed to ensure a project’s success.
“I am a people person, and am very good at getting teams of people together to accomplish tasks; people who work for or with me enjoy their work, which makes it go faster and better,” she says. “I love documentation and ensuring it is detailed and complete. I cannot think of anything else I would rather do!”
