New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) February 11, 2014

The second annual Providigm Embracing Quality Awards were announced Monday evening at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, LA. The 305 skilled nursing centers that have achieved this honor are recognized as top-performing organizations in the United States and Canada. These centers were announced and honored at a gala hosted by Providigm and Medline Industries during AHCA/NCAL’s annual Quality Symposium.

Winners were awarded for outstanding performance in one or more of three categories: Attaining a deficiency-free annual survey in 2013, having a low risk-adjusted rate of readmission to hospitals, or having exceptionally favorable customer satisfaction ratings.

Barbara Baylis, Providigm's Accreditation Program Director, spoke to the professionals attending the gala Monday evening at AHCA/NCAL Quality Symposium. Barbara stated, "The use of abaqis as a Quality Management System has had a positive impact on the success of thousands of long term care facilities. The facilities announced tonight will undoubtedly serve as role models for their peers in long term health care. Everyday these facilities use abaqis; they are going through the Quality Management process and demonstrating to their resident, staff, family members and the community they want to provide the best care."

In order to be eligible to win an Embracing Quality Award, centers needed to achieve Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Accreditation. In total, 1193 nursing centers, located across 48 states, and Ontario, Canada, received Providigm’s QAPI Accreditation for 2014.

The accredited centers implemented QAPI systems which met quantitative standards that have been demonstrated to be associated with significant performance improvement. abaqis, the leading Quality Management System for post-acute healthcare providers, was used by the centers to conduct QAPI on a continuous and comprehensive basis.
