National Association of Professional Women Announces Madeleine M. Lewis, Chief Administrative Officer at Somno Diagnostics as 2014 VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) March 11, 2014 -- htpL//http://www.napw.com NAPW honors Madeleine M. Lewis as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in business with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
“I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Medicine from Samford University,” says Ms. Lewis, explaining the professional journey she has embarked upon. “The ultimate goal was to go to medical school, but life had different plans for me, and that led me to Somno.”
It began after graduation, when Ms. Lewis moved back home with her parents. While deciding what her next step would be, her father offered her the chance to work at Somno Diagnostics, a sleep disorder diagnostic firm he had established some years earlier. Although she had some business and management experience, Ms. Lewis never thought she would stay with the company for too long. But due to a betrayal by one of her father’s close business partners, Somno Diagnostic’s future was in jeopardy and Ms. Lewis did indeed stay on. After months of legal wrangling, it was agreed she would step in as chief administrative officer to navigate the company through the tumultuous financial crisis it was facing.
Ms. Lewis’ expert leadership has been instrumental in getting the company back on track. Determined to make Somno a success once again, she is working hard managing staff, overseeing the day-to-day operations and making all key executive decisions. Her perseverance is definitely having a positive impact -- they are planning to open two new locations -- yet she hesitates to take all the credit.
“It has been a very, very long road, but we have made so much progress in a positive light that can only be described as a blessing from God. Even though it seems like it was because of me, I can assure you it was eternal favor that gets all the glory,” she says.
