Sunesys, LLC, a leading provider of premium bandwidth services and private fiber optic networks, is pleased to announce several California based school districts, including Garden Grove Unified School District and Monrovia Unified School District, are paving the way to 21st century learning via network upgrades to 10 Gigabit WAN connectivity.

Both southern California districts have recently installed 10G upgrades to their existing Sunesys private Ethernet WAN solutions, providing high-speed dedicated optics. With the ever-changing landscape of technology in the K-12 field, the timing is pertinent considering initiatives brought forth from SETDA, ConnectED and online testing guidelines such as the State’s initiative, Common Core State Standard. Each of these districts is at the forefront of education and technology as leaders in their industry.

Garden Grove Unified sought a 10G wide area network upgrade between eight of their secondary education sites. Rick Rodriguez, Director of Information Systems at Garden Grove Unified School District, comments: “As a district, in order to meet our vision and commitment to our students, parents, and community, the need to partner with a professional optical infrastructure provider was crucial to connect our school computers labs, classrooms, and administration offices back to our Wide Area Network and enable classrooms, schools, and offices to exchange information electronically in addition to Internet access. The system is the largest of its type among Orange County school districts. With the partnership of Sunesys, we are able to deliver a converged infrastructure solution that provides VoIP, HD video, cloud-based content and wireless at high speeds to enhance the end user experience.”

Chief Technology Officer Jason Buchanan of Monrovia Unified School District remarks: "We were happy to work with Sunesys to upgrade our network to 10G fiber. Monrovia is continuing its initiative to deliver Wi-Fi and mobile devices to every classroom. Our teachers are using our network to build lessons with Internet, and streaming video content on a daily basis. A fast and reliable network infrastructure is a necessity to ensure our teachers can deliver their lessons problem-free. Sunesys has delivered a very reliable, high-speed 10G fiber network with minimal impact on my support teams time, allowing us to focus on supporting our teachers needs." Monrovia has upgraded to a 10G Sunesys private Ethernet WAN district-wide, providing connectivity between ten locations.

Sunesys’ VP of Enterprise Sales and Marketing, John Versaggi, states, “We are excited to announce completion of several of our California based school districts to 10Gig connectivity. The current education landscape is headed towards bigger bandwidth with a constant need for streamlined communications across VoIP and cloud based applications. At Sunesys, we continue to strive to bring our customers to the forefront of these technologies, eliminating the headaches caused by clogged infrastructure. We are thrilled for the opportunities both Garden Grove and Monrovia are providing their districts. As we head into the 2014-15 E-rate season, we imagine many districts will continue to push the boundary towards more and more bandwidth.”

Sunesys currently serves over 300 school districts across nine states and provides 1800+ route miles in the state of California.
