Floyd Merrell releases final volume of Matthew-Matt Trilogy
(PRWEB) September 09, 2014 -- LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Floyd Merrell wrote his first novel, “Finding Himself,” and found he still had a number of ideas he wished to bring to closure. He continued writing and “Looking Glass Killer” emerged. Still, he could not stop himself, so a third book saw the light of day, completing the Matthew-Matt Trilogy.
“The Dilemma” (published by Xlibris) is the final volume in the Matthew-Matt Trilogy. In this book, Matt becomes a creative, enterprising retail produce manager at a large supermarket. He receives accolades regarding his innovative retailing technique. Yet, his multiethnic identity continues to plague him. Following a series of troubling confrontations, traumatic events and the death of his wife, María, he finds out that finally he has the wherewithal to resolve his dilemma.
This story reveals multiethnic problems and conflicts prevalent in present culture and the profound issues involving personal multiethnic identity; as well as the remarkable role human creativity plays in leading to a resolution of these conflicts. At the same time, it is peppered with intrigue, adventure, conflict, action and meditations on the creative process.
According to Merrell, “The Dilemma” is different from other books because of the diversity of its structure and narrative process. The dialogues involving socio-cultural backgrounds found in most of the novel’s characters and the interior monologues revealing the protagonist’s obsession to resolve his multiethnic diversity and the dilemma it entails also adds to the uniqueness of the story.
