Connecticut Region 1 Selects Veoci for Emergency Disaster Management
New Haven, Conn. (PRWEB) May 09, 2014 -- Veoci, a Software-as-a-Service (Saas) platform for emergency management, today announced the 14 towns of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) Region 1 have selected Veoci as their emergency and crisis management platform.
The municipalities include the following Connecticut cities and towns: Bridgeport, Stamford, Fairfield, Norwalk, Greenwich, Stratford, Trumbull, Westport, New Canaan, Monroe, Wilton, Darien, Weston and Easton. The selection process began with an extensive request for proposal process of the region’s needs, multiple vendor bids, and a comprehensive procurement process with close coordination and approval by the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
"Over the past couple of years, we've experienced some of the worst storms our city has ever endured," said Scott Appleby, the director of emergency management for the City of Bridgeport. "Based on our experiences, we deemed it necessary to enhance our ability to communicate and coordinate in emergency situations, specifically with our neighboring communities. That's why we chose Veoci. Their track record of success with cities like New Haven, combined with their state-of-the-art-technology, make them a clear leader when it comes to emergency response."
Veoci was developed by Grey Wall Software of New Haven, Conn., which launched in January 2011, by Dr. Sukh Grewal, a 30-year veteran at General Electric (GE) and several of his long-time GE colleagues. Airports, cities, counties, corporations, and universities, are using Veoci to plan for and respond to critical incidents.
“It’s a great feeling when, after three years of development, our customers tell us that Veoci is exactly the product they had in mind for years but had never found,” said Dr. Sukh Grewal, CEO of Grey Wall Software. “We are thrilled that CT-Region 1 has recognized how Veoci solves a problem that has been around for ages. Our secret sauce is our customer support and our collaborative and nimble culture. This allows us to take our customers to a higher level of performance by continuing to challenge our team to come up with new ideas and capabilities for the product.”
Shelters, hospitals, transportation entities, utilities and municipalities see the same picture and have instant and continuous communication from any location. Mayors can see the overall situation by accessing dashboards and maps that update continuously, a shift that allows incident managers to directly manage the response.
