ElliptiGO Inc. Adds Sub-4:00 Miler & Professional Coach Darren Brown to Growing Marketing Team
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 03, 2014 -- ElliptiGO Inc., creators of the world’s first elliptical cycle, today announced the hiring of sub-4:00 miler and professional coach, Darren Brown, as Strategic Marketing Manager. Brown will focus on strategic initiatives at ElliptiGO with an emphasis on growing awareness in the running community.
Brown brings a great deal of business development and entrepreneurial spirit to ElliptiGO as well as a deep understanding of the running community. After earning three All-American awards at The University of Texas, Brown started his professional running career and helped found the TeamROGUE Elite running team. During Brown’s tenure with TeamROGUE, the group earned a USATF Elite Athlete Training Center designation and placed two athletes on U.S. international teams.
Brown retired from running in 2011 to pursue a dual MBA/MS degree in Sports Management at the University of Tennessee and help coach his wife, professional runner Sarah Bowman Brown. While in Knoxville, Brown worked to develop financial and promotional opportunities for the Knoxville Track Club and RunKnox. After helping his wife return to elite-level running after two years of injury, it was her participation in the RE:RUN San Diego professional track meet in May 2013 that helped Brown connect with ElliptiGO.
“When I saw the ElliptiGO Mile at RE:RUN, I immediately became interested in how this machine could benefit Sarah in her training,” said Brown. “After her resurgence at the 2012 Olympic Trials through run-specific cross-training, I knew that the ElliptiGO could be a powerful training tool. We started using it shortly after RE:RUN and it helped her qualify for the 2013 World Championships. I’m thrilled to now be joining the ElliptiGO team where I can leverage my experiences as a professional runner and coach with my business background to raise awareness about the ElliptiGO and help runners understand why it should be a part of everyone’s training program. It’s a really exciting opportunity to be on the cutting edge of run training.”
