Top 20 Hot Jobs (TM)

“Service members looking for a civilian job should first consider these positions because one or more of these career fields applies to everyone,” said Sean Collins, Vice President for Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) March 10, 2014

G.I. Jobs, the premier media resource for transitioning service members, today released its second annual list of the Top 20 Hot Jobs For Veterans™. The Top 20 Hot Jobs For Veterans™ highlights the jobs for which Fortune 1000 companies are most actively recruiting post-9/11 military veterans. The Top 20 Hot Jobs For Veterans™ will be published in the April issue of G.I. Jobs and can be viewed online at gijobs.com/HotJobs2014

Positions on the Hot Jobs list range from skilled trade jobs in manufacturing to operations and logistics as well as the ever-growing STEM fields of engineering and technicians. The Hot Jobs For Veterans™ positions were derived directly from 2014 Military Friendly Employers® survey data of Fortune 1000 companies.

The Top 20 Hot Jobs For Veterans™ dispels the common misconception that military service members require special jobs or that jobs for military-trained workers are largely held only within the government and defense industries. “Service members looking for a civilian job should first consider these positions because one or more of these career fields applies to everyone,” said Sean Collins, Vice President for Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs. “Companies are actively recruiting veterans to fill these positions because service members have a proven track record of success in these areas.”

The vast diversity of positions within the Hot Jobs illustrates why military service members are sought after for a wide range of mainstream occupations by many household-name companies. “We are always looking for talented, dedicated people of character to lead our teams,” said Jeff Immelt, chairman and CEO at GE. “Veterans have these qualities, which is why they are a good fit with our culture.”

Notably, the positions within the 2014 list of 20 Hot Jobs focus less on the direct translations of military occupational skills and more on intangible skills gleaned through military training such as team leadership, effective communication and logistics experience, which are universally held by post-9/11 service members regardless of military occupational specialty.

Servicemembers and veterans seeking civilian careers are encouraged to speak with leading employers about Hot Job opportunities at the next G.I. Jobs Virtual Career Fair, Tuesday April 8th. Additional Virtual Career Fairs sponsored by G.I. Jobs are scheduled throughout 2014. Space is limited and registration is free for military candidates, sign up today at: gijobs.com/events.aspx
