Whiskey220: Representation Distills We the People ~ New on the Bryan William Brickner Blog
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 23, 2014 -- "Distillation creates essence,” opened Bryan W. Brickner, “and sometimes that essence is just a name.”
In the series finale for Ew Publishing’s October mini-series, Whiskey 220: Representation Distills We the People, hosted on the Bryan William Brickner Blog, President George Washington meets with representatives fresh (and worn out) from the insurrection. Utilizing quotes and impressions from Washington’s Diaries (Library of Congress), the post highlights the meeting as well as Washington’s interest in the name of one of the rebellious leaders of the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion in western Pennsylvania.
“The Whiskey Rebellion was a big deal for the new nation,” explained Brickner, “as it tested the institutions of the new US Republic.”
“When President Washington met with representatives of the rebellion,” Brickner continued, “he was meeting them to gain insight to what the people were feeling – what their sentiments were. The meeting, according to George’s notes, went well; the rebels were willing to submit and accept amnesty … except one.”
“This one rebel,” closed Brickner, “occupied Washington’s mind, and he distilled his name in the end ~ David Bradford. There’s lots to his story, so much so that we’ll pickup there next time … like next October.”
Brickner has a 1997 political science doctorate from Purdue University and is the author of several political theory books, to include: The Promise Keepers (1999), Article the first (2006), and The Book of the Is (2013). The Bryan William Brickner Blog is an ongoing resource for the political science of constitutions and the biological science of receptors.
