WSO2 Technology Experts To Present Sessions on PaaS and API Management Architectural Best Practices at QCon New York 2014
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- The cloud and APIs are helping to transform the way enterprises collaborate and communicate with customers, partners, and internal groups within the organization. At QCon New York 2014, WSO2 technology experts will deliver two presentations that examine how software architects and developers can apply architectural best practices to these technologies:
• Samisa Abeysinghe, WSO2 vice president of delivery, will discuss how developers can take advantage of the Apache Stratos PaaS framework.
• Nuwan Bandara, WSO2 senior technical lead, will explore how to create an API-driven application ecosystem that drives revenue and delivers value to customers.
WSO2 is a Platinum Sponsor of QCon New York 2014, which will run June 11-13, 2014 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, NY.
June 11: Exploring Apaches Stratos
Samisa Abeysinghe, WSO2 vice president of delivery, will present the session, “PaaS Design & Architecture: A Deep Dive into Apache Stratos.” The talk is part of the “Solutions Track” that will run from 3:00-3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Grand Ballroom.
In his session, Samisa will examine the architecture and key features of the Apache Stratos PaaS framework, which graduated to a full Apache project earlier this month. He will then explain how the multi-tenancy model, which allows high multi-tenancy density within a deployment, is a key advantage of the PaaS framework. This includes how the ability to control infrastructure as a service (IaaS) resourced—per cloud, per region and per zone—paves the way to easily achieve high availability and disaster recovery. Additionally, Samisa will explore how Apache Stratos delivers multi-factor-based auto scaling, dynamic load balancing, and cloud bursting.
Samisa has nearly 15 years of experience working for systems integrators and software vendors with global exposure. Previously, he led the development of WSO2’s cloud and middleware platforms as vice president of engineering. Prior to WSO2, Samisa worked for systems integrators and software vendors with global exposure. He is a longtime Apache Web Services project committer, and initiated the Apache Axis2/C project. In addition to several published articles, Samisa has authored two books: “RESTful PHP Web Services” and “PHP Team Development.”
June 12: An API-Driven Application Ecosystem
Nuwan Bandara, WSO2 Senior Technical Lead, will present the session, “API-Driven Applications – An Ecosystem Architecture.” The talk is part of the “Solutions Track” that will run from 10:40-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Grand Ballroom.
In his session, Nuwan will explore the key elements of API-driven application design and development. He then will explain the benefits of adopting an API-first approach when it comes to creating multiple information streams to deliver and acquire information. Nuwan also will discuss the need to understand the customer and API-driven design to create a successful business model. Finally, he will explain the roles of federated identity, privacy policies, and established trusted secure communications in providing a seamless user experience.
Nuwan works closely with WSO2 customers on enterprise solutions and his experience spans across multiple verticals, such as e-government, education, e-commerce and healthcare. Previously, Nuwan worked as a product lead on the WSO2 engineering team for products, such as WSO2 User Engagement Server, WSO2 Enterprise Store, WSO2 Mashup Server, and the Jaggery server-side JavaScript scripting engine. He also has contributed to WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Carbon, as well as to the Apache Web Services and Apache Shindig projects within the Apache Software Foundation.
Integrated Open Source Approach to Application Development and Management
The WSO2 booth at QCon New York will have experts available to discuss the synergistic, integrated approach of WSO2’s 100% open source platforms in addressing the application development and management demands enterprises face today. They include the comprehensive WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform, WSO2 Enterprise Mobility Manager, WSO2 App Factory cloud-enabled DevOps platform, WSO2 Private PaaS and WSO2 Public Cloud.
Significantly, all WSO2 solutions are built on the same fully componentized, OSGI-compliant code base. As a result, developers can easily deploy and customize any of these WSO2 products and the 175-plus components on which they are comprised, providing greater flexibility and agility to meet changing enterprise demands.
In addition to WSO2 cloud platforms, all WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware products also are fully multitenant and cloud-ready. This means IT professionals can write an application once and deploy it on the same middleware on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment.
