The 2014 annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period begins October 15th

Saint Augustine, FL (PRWEB) October 15, 2013

Q1Medicare reminds seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries that the 2014 annual Open Enrollment Period begins today, October 15th and continues through Saturday, December 7th.

During the 2014 Open Enrollment Period, seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in a new Medicare prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan, drop their Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, return to Original Medicare from their Medicare Advantage plan, or change their existing Medicare prescription drug or Medicare Advantage plan coverage.

Any 2014 Medicare plan changes made between October 15th and December 7th will take effect on January 1, 2014.

To help seniors get an overview of their 2014 Medicare plan options, Q1Medicare.com offers their Medicare Advantage plan finder, MA-Finder.com and Medicare Part D prescription drug plan finder, PDP-Finder.com.

As with previous years, Medicare beneficiaries have the option of making no changes during the Open Enrollment Period and they will be automatically re-enrolled into their 2013 Medicare plan for another year, along with any changes that their current Medicare plan may have made for 2014.

Members of 2013 Medicare plans should have received an Annual Notice of Change letter (or ANOC) from their Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage plan carriers explaining how their plans are changing in 2014. The ANOC letter will inform plan member about changes to 2014 Medicare plan premium, deductible, cost-sharing, and other plan coverage features.

Q1Medicare.com also provides online Medicare plan comparison tools so Medicare beneficiaries can visualize how all Medicare prescription drug plans or Medicare Advantage plans in their service area are changing next year.

The Q1Medicare.com PDP-Compare and MA-Compare tools include changes in plan names, premium, deductible, gap coverage, co-payments, and Low-Income Subsidy status. New 2014 Medicare plans and those 2013 plans that will be discontinued in 2014 are also highlighted along with plan consolidations and plan crosswalks.

Like other Q1Medicare.com features the PDP-Finder, MA-Finder, PDP-Compare, and MA-Compare tools are available to all site visitors at no cost and designed for PC, smartphone, and tablet platforms.
