PremierPoint Solutions Announces Increased Functionality in a No-Cost SharePoint Download that Automates the Site Creation Process
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) December 11, 2014 -- PremierPoint Solutions today announced an upgrade in functionality to its no-cost edition of Site Provisioning and Governance Assistant for SharePoint, a SharePoint download designed to automate the creation and provisioning of new SharePoint sites and site collections.
The add-on product now allows the automated creation and provisioning of SharePoint subsites, and not just site collections.
Site Provisioning and Governance Assistant for SharePoint – Free Edition (SPGA Free) provides a way for organizations with an ongoing need to create new SharePoint sites and site collections to automate the creation and provisioning process. Choosing from “Site Request Profiles” preconfigured by server administrators, approved users initiate the on-demand process of automatically creating and provisioning new sites – from approval to completion.
On Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time, PremierPoint Solutions will host a webinar that demonstrates SPGA in action. There is no charge to attend the one-hour webinar, which is titled “Introducing a Free Solution for Automating the SharePoint Site Collection Creation Process” and includes a question and answer session.
Initially, the no-cost version of SPGA only allowed the automated creation of SharePoint site collections, but not subsites. Now users have the capability to do both.
Aaron Wood, engineering and support manager for PremierPoint Solutions’ Commercial Software Division, noted, “Self-service automated site creation is not a new concept. But what makes this product unique is that it allows administrators to automatically enforce company standards and uniformity while protecting their company’s taxonomy. Users are automatically prevented from ‘coloring outside the lines.’”
"By extending the scope of SPGA’s capabilities to include the creation and provisioning of subsites as well as site collections, we have dramatically increased the usefulness of this no-cost tool,” Wood added.
Administrators are able to exercise complete control over the features and limitations of each kind of site or site collection by “baking them into” each Site Request Profile. This prevents random deviations and provides the kind of consistency and uniformity that IT departments require. Approved users select the type of site they need from the available Profiles, and set the automated site creation process into motion.
The alternative–manually creating SharePoint site collections–is a time and labor-intensive option which can tie up valuable IT resources, resulting in a backlog of sites and site collections waiting to be approved and provisioned. And because of the repetitive nature of the task, the risk of human error is much greater.
“SPGA keeps the IT staff in control of the site creation process,” Wood said, “but allows them to put in place a ‘set it and forget it’ solution – saving them untold hours of labor. And it gives the users quick access to their requested site, so they feel empowered as well. SPGA is a way to make both IT and SharePoint users happy, and can potentially save an organization thousands in labor costs.”
Installation of SPGA is easy and can be completed in just minutes. The no-cost product can be downloaded from the PremierPoint Solutions website.
SPGA works with SharePoint 2010 and 2013, both Foundation and Server editions. SPGA’s Premium Edition, available for purchase, offers many more options and enhanced capabilities.
