New WSO2 White Paper and WSO2Con US 2014 Session Track Explore Enterprise Mobility Management Best Practices
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) October 21, 2014 -- Businesses are shifting toward more mobile-centric technologies, but without proper management, mobile devices can put user information and sensitive enterprise data at risk. To address this challenge, WSO2 has published a new white paper discussing common enterprise mobility threats and best practices for effectively preventing them.
Additionally, WSO2 technology experts will explore key mobility management best practices in three “Mobile” track sessions at WSO2Con US 2014, which will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. The conference runs October 27-29, 2014 at the Mission Bay Conference Center at UCSF in San Francisco, CA. For more information, visit http://us14.wso2con.com.
White Paper: Understanding Modern Enterprise Mobility
The white paper, “Understanding Mobility and its Challenges and Managing These in the 'Mobile First' Era,” begins by identifying potential threat boundaries in mobile device interfaces. The paper then discusses enterprise security considerations for different mobile platforms, such as Android, Apple iOS, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry.
Next, the white paper explores critical device-level security risk factors that can occur at any time to anyone, and it provides simple methods for avoiding them. Additionally, the paper covers best practices for securing and managing enterprise devices using WSO2 Enterprise Mobility Manager (WSO2 EMM). The paper then discusses WSO2’s vision for its mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) to strengthen the enterprise backend and application security.
Author Kasun Dananjaya Delgolla is a software engineer on the WSO2 mobile development team. Kasun has contributed to customer engagements focused on enterprise mobility management (EMM) integration, and he has presented mobile technology concepts at Sri Lanka's Ministry of Education.

WSO2Con US 2014: Mobile Management Best Practices
WSO2’s technical experts will examine additional aspects of enterprise mobility management best practices in three “Mobile” track sessions at WSO2Con US 2014.
Managing Devices Using EMM – Sinnathamby Shanmugarajah, WSO2 director – mobile architecture, will examine the exponential rate of mobile device adoption and its impact on businesses. He also will provide an overview of best practices enterprises should employ to manage mobile devices, the role of WSO2 EMM in supporting these practices, and upcoming enhancements to WSO2’s device management platform.
Run Your Own Mobile App Store – Nuwan Bandara, WSO2 senior lead solutions engineer, will look at how organizations—whether building mobile applications for internal users, customers, partners or other stakeholders—need an effective way to publish and advertise them. He then will discuss how an enterprise mobile app store can help organizations reach their stakeholders more readily, as well as enable more effective bring your own device (BYOD) policies.
Case Study: EMM for Wireless Provisioning for BYOD – Yasith Tharindu, WSO2 manager of infrastructure, will address the challenges enterprises face when they allow employees to use personal devices on the corporate network. He then will examine how WSO2 addressed the challenges of personal device management, security and authentication within its own corporate environment using WSO2 EMM.
