ABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries for Android: Live-Translation Made Mobile
Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, today announced ABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries 4.0 for Android with new Live-translation and advanced photo features.
Live-translation has been designed to enable user comprehension of virtually any printed text in a “foreign” language. In video mode on an Android device, the user simply aims the pointer at an unfamiliar word or phrase and then “taps” on the screen to see its meaning.
Live-translation gives the user the ability to easily read and understand any length of text, from street signs to menus to magazine articles, novels and academic text. Live-translation supports full-page text imagery and the “tappable” translation of each word on the captured page.
A single tap on a word displays a brief entry with the most common translation alternative. Another tap produces a comprehensive definition containing several translation variants, transcription, usage examples and inflected forms. Using Lingvo Dictionaries, it is easy to build a personal digital library for any of 30 languages by choosing from amongst a range of free pocket dictionaries and comprehensive paid dictionaries.
The newly released version of Lingvo provides mobile software developers with a new functionality of ABBYY’s dictionary *API which seamlessly transfers the word search history from Lingvo dictionary software into any other Android program.
*Lingvo API is a useful tool for integrating Lingvo Dictionaries into other Android-based applications to equip them with one-tap translation feature and advanced dictionary support. To enable this functionality, the ABBYY Lingvo application, its dictionary databases and the developer’s own application for Android should all be installed on the same device.
