Education Pioneers Plans to Grow Analyst Fellowship by Over 40 Percent to Meet Data Demand in Education

Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit with a bold vision to transform education into the best led and managed sector in the U.S., announced today that it will grow its 2014 Analyst Fellowship by over 40 percent this year to meet demand in the education sector for more data experts. The organization is seeking more than 120 top emerging leaders with strong analytical skills for the prestigious leadership development program.

A 2013 Education Pioneers report, The Invisible Lever: A Profile of Leadership and Management Talent in Education, found that nearly 60 percent of Education Pioneers Alumni working full-time in the education sector described their roles as analytically focused. Nearly half of their data analysis focuses on academic performance, such as student achievement, teacher effectiveness, and college readiness; and half focuses on core business data such as finance, human resources, and operations.

In addition, Education Pioneers has seen a significant increase in requests for talented data experts from its Partner education organizations. To provide more education organizations with critical analytical capacity to make data-informed decisions, Education Pioneers is growing the 2014 cohort significantly.

Applications for the 10-month, paid 2014 Analyst Fellowship (September 2014 – July 2015) opened in early December; interested candidates may attend local receptions in January or numerous recruiting webinars to learn more about the program, and apply via the Education Pioneers website before the priority round deadline on February 14, 2014.

Results from the most recent cohort of Analyst Fellows demonstrate that Education Pioneers is successfully helping emerging leaders from diverse personal and professional backgrounds who have robust analytical skills find their path in education while they make an immediate impact in the field.

Of Fellows who completed the program in 2013, nearly all (98 percent) reported that they are more prepared for a high-impact career in education as a result of their Education Pioneers Fellowship, and 93 percent rated their overall Fellowship experience as excellent or good. All Fellows (100 percent) reported that they are aware of different career paths in education as a result of the Fellowship, a 37 percent increase from pre-Fellowship reporting.

Fellowship project supervisors also reported high satisfaction rates: 92 percent reported that their Analyst Fellow worked on a high value data project; 84 percent stated that their Fellow increased the effectiveness or efficiency of their program or department; and 85 percent agreed that hiring their Analyst Fellow was well worth the financial investment.

Since Education Pioneers’ founding, more than 2,000 of the organization’s Fellows have brought their unique skill sets to more than 180 education organizations nationwide through Education Pioneers’ education leadership development programs, including the Analyst Fellowship and the Graduate School Fellowship. During their Fellowships, Fellows work outside of the classroom to advance or complete mission-critical initiatives that support teaching and learning results.

Beyond their Fellowships, more than 70 percent of the organization’s Alumni in the workforce have remained in the education sector, representing a significant and forward-thinking segment of emerging educational leaders and managers who guide the work of school districts, charter school networks, and other education organizations.
