First Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year®, Rogelio “Roger” Reyes, CEO of SDV Recon, Named by NaVOBA, Microsoft and Hilton Worldwide
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- Rogelio “Roger” Reyes, Marine Corps officer-turned-aviation supplier, has been named the first Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year® by the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), publisher of Vetrepreneur® magazine, in partnership with Microsoft and Hilton Worldwide. The Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year® is an expansion of NaVOBA’s prestigious Vetrepreneur of the Year® award program, which honors the finest role models the veteran-owned business movement has to offer. Reyes and his company, SDV Recon, are featured in the September issue of Vetrepreneur® magazine, available at http://www.NaVOBA.com.
“Once I heard about the honor of being Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year®, the pride of the Marine Corps veteran who served 26 years came back from all those years ago. This honor makes me very proud in my heart,” said Reyes. “I got my education through the Marine Corps,” he points out. “The bottom line is you have to build your team. You have to know your staff and their capabilities. In the Corps we say, ‘You have to take care of your troops.’ Guess what? Here you have to take care of your employees. If you do that it will ultimately be a better business.”
The honor, presented in conjunction with Microsoft and Hilton Worldwide, is bestowed on a Hispanic-American veteran who demonstrates the attributes crucial to leading a flourishing business; sustained business growth and success; and extensive aspirations to cultivate veteran entrepreneurship.
Reyes owns SDV Recon, based in Pompano Beach, Fla., a government and corporate contractor that specializes in supplying and moving aerospace parts around the world, and a thriving business poised for extensive growth. In only six years, he and his business partner, Dan Cain, have built SDV Recon from the bottom up to revenues of more than $27 million with a growing international presence in Australia, Columbia and Indonesia. He epitomizes the very signature of a successful Vetrepreneur who used his 26-year education, training and experience as a Marine to achieve his goals in the civilian world.

This year’s convention will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. The annual Hispanic Vetrepreneur of the Year® is the second in a series of new awards NaVOBA has bestowed this year. Earlier this year, the organization named Louisa Long Jaffe the first annual Woman Vetrepreneur of the Year®. The Minority Vetrepreneur of the Year® will be presented in early November, and the overall 2014 Vetrepreneur of the Year® will be revealed in the November/December issue of Vetrepreneur® and formally awarded in December at the National Veterans Small Business Engagement in Atlanta, Ga.
