New Elementary School to Open in Maywood with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Featuring Haircuts for Students, and Zumba, Manicures and Massages for Moms
Maywood, CA (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- Clemente Charter School (CCS), offering transitional kinder through third grade, will open its doors with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Back-to-School Barbeque on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5701 Fishburn Avenue, Maywood, CA 90270. The school’s grand opening will feature food, games, haircuts for children, and Zumba instruction, manicures and massages for moms.
Confirmed guests include: Maywood Mayor Pro Tem, Eddie De La Riva; Talia Leon, Field Deputy for U.S. Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard; and Paul R. Chavez, Director of Business Development and Marketing, Chavez Law Group, and grandson of legendary civil rights activist Cesar Chavez
“We are excited to welcome families to our new school,” said Norma Moreno, Principal at CCS. “Clemente is a public school that offers students individualized learning in a safe, nurturing, yet rigorous academic environment. Our school also offers a health and fitness component that extends to the entire family,” added Moreno.
Clemente is the fourth school established by Ingenium Schools, a charter management organization that has successfully implemented its educational model at its school campuses. The school will launch on August 2 with Transitional Kinder – a much-needed resource in the Maywood area – through third grade. An additional grade will be added in the next few years. Once the school reaches full capacity, it will serve more than 500 local students in TK through grade 5. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 8:10 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Since 2009, Ingenium Schools has used its Ingenium Learning System (ILS) – a well-rounded performance-based educational program focusing on the needs of each student through a student-centered environment – to provide high-quality instruction to hundreds of youth in some of Los Angeles’ most ethnically diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.
The ILS model, which is comprised of four key components – continuous improvement, shared vision, leadership and personal mastery – is based on the Re-Inventing Schools Coalition (RISC) program, which was developed at Alaska’s Chugach School District and was one of the first school districts to win the Baldrige Award in 2001 – the nation’s highest award for organizational performance excellence.
“The ILS breaks away from traditional classroom settings where students are placed in classes based on their age (grade) and instead places students in classes based on their learning levels,” said Glenn Noreen, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ingenium Schools. “At Ingenium, we engage students in their own education by making them aware of their learning goals throughout the year and the standards they must learn and master in order to advance to the next learning level. We are excited to expand our growing network to Maywood and look forward to the amazing transformations that will take place in our classrooms,” added Noreen.
