National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts™ (NACVA®) has announced its 2014 Business Valuation Certification and Training Center (BVTC) schedule, which includes appearances in 14 cities nationwide. The BVTC is world renowned for being the most comprehensive and complete foundational training program teaching to the body of knowledge on how to value private business enterprises. Taught in 10 countries, the BVTC prepares attendees to pass any business valuation (BV) certification exam offered in the industry as well as those designations offered by NACVA—the Certified Valuation Analyst® (CVA®)—and the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA)—the Certified Business Appraiser (CBA).

Attendees of the live training receive free registration for the Online CVA Case Study Report Writing Clinic, designed to assist credential candidates in completing a required sample business valuation case study report. The BVTC is also available via self-study with an on-demand video series. A CVA Exam Q&A Study Guide and Live Q&A Webinar Sessions are also available to help with exam preparation.

“The CVA is the country's most distinguished and widely recognized BV certification, known for the superb training and challenging examination process that leads to earning this prestigious credential,” said Parnell Black, MBA, CPA, CVA, NACVA's Chief Executive Officer. “The BVTC is the ultimate comprehensive training experience, offering attendees expanded knowledge, networking opportunities with seasoned instructors and fellow attendees, and resources that will provide a foundation for future success.”

NACVA’s CVA designation is the only valuation credential accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies® (NCCA®), the accreditation body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence™ (ICE™). The Institute for Credentialing Excellence’s mission is to promote excellence in competency assessment for practitioners in all occupations and professions. This prestigious recognition differentiates CVA credential holders as having met the most stringent standards in the industry.

“I couldn’t have imagined how becoming a CVA would alter my career path or how passionate I would become about private company valuation. My experience in valuation has given me an understanding, on a granular and robust level, of the drivers and obstacles to success for main street businesses. It has opened the door to deep conversations with clients about how they understand their business and their goals,” states Janae Castell, CVA, with Woodrum, Tate & Associates, PLLC, in Tulsa, OK. “Outside the office, I am often intrigued to chat with budding entrepreneurs and business owners about their business and translate that into discussions of value impact. I believe that has opened a few people's eyes to new considerations and made me a more valuable resource,” she continues.

“Among the few professions where one can become a millionaire is business appraisal/valuation. I’m proof,” says Carl Lloyd Sheeler, PhD, ASA, CBA, CVA, with Berkeley Research Group, LLC, in San Diego, CA. “For the past two-plus decades, no two days are ever the same due to changes in the law, tax, industry, and market. The industry is also evolving with many unique niches to hold interest and expand knowledge to include, but not limited to, litigation support, forensics, M&A, private equity, family businesses, business/wealth advisory, tax, law, finance, and intellectual property. Like most, I stumbled into this profession and have been able to apply my operations, strategic and finance experience and education to better understand what risks influence entity and equity value. This helps me to understand the similarities and differences to public and private company equity and debt. This is a far cry to the few hours or days commonly expended by the academic community on valuation. I would whole heartedly recommend this as a noble profession for one seeking to gain knowledge and share it with the backbone of the economy in a meaningful way,” he says.
